Author Guidelines

The Journal of Technology for ELT (JTELT) welcomes original and previously unpublished scholarly contributions related to technology-enhanced language and literature education. Authors are encouraged to read these guidelines carefully before preparing and submitting manuscripts.

JTELT follows a double-blind peer-review process and a continuous publication model. All submissions must be original, ethically sound, and prepared according to the journal’s formatting and referencing requirements.

Scope of the Journal: JTELT publishes scholarly work related to Technology-enhanced language learning, Artificial intelligence in ELT and literature education, Online, blended, and hybrid learning, Mobile-assisted language learning (MALL), Digital literacy and multimodal learning, Educational technology and teacher development, Language assessment and feedback technologies, Open educational resources and online collaboration, Literature teaching through digital tools and media, and Emerging technologies in language and literature education. Submissions that do not engage substantively with technology and language/literature learning may not be considered for review.

Types of Submissions

  1. Full-Length Research Papers: Research papers may be theoretical, empirical, interdisciplinary, or practice-based; Maximum length: 5,000 words (excluding abstract, references, and appendices); Abstract: approximately 150 words; Keywords: 3–5
  2. Book Reviews: Book reviews should critically engage with recent publications relevant to technology-enhanced language and literature education; Length: 1,000–1,500 words; Abstract: approximately 100 words; Keywords: 3–5; Books reviewed should normally have been published within the previous 18 months.
  3. Author Interviews: JTELT accepts interview transcripts with authors, academics, poets, artists, educational technologists, and industry experts working in areas related to Technology-Enhanced Language and Literature Learning; Length: 1,500–3,000 words; Abstract: approximately 100 words; Keywords: 3–5; Interviews should not be older than six months from the date of submission.
  4. Working Papers / Opinion Pieces: Reflective and exploratory submissions addressing emerging issues, practices, innovations, and perspectives in technology-enabled language and literature education are welcome; Length: 1,500–3,000 words; Abstract: approximately 100 words; Keywords: 3–5

Manuscript Preparation: Authors should prepare manuscripts using the following specifications:

  • Paper size: A4 with 1-inch margins on all sides
  • Title length: maximum 10 words
  • Title: Cambria Bold, 16 pt
  • Headings: Cambria Bold, 14 pt
  • Sub-headings: Cambria Bold, 12 pt
  • Main text: Cambria, 12 pt
  • Line spacing: 1.5 throughout
  • Language: English
  • Quotations in other languages must include English translations
  • All manuscripts must be carefully spell-checked and grammar-checked before submission.

Structure of the Manuscript: The structure of the manuscript may vary depending on the nature of the submission. However, a typical research paper should generally include the following components:

  • Title
  • Abstract
  • 3–5 Keywords
  • Introduction
  • Literature Review / Theoretical Framework
  • Methodology (where applicable)
  • Analysis / Results / Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • References section
  • Appendices (if applicable)

References and Citation Style: JTELT follows the APA (7th edition) referencing style. All references cited in the text must appear in the References section, and vice versa.

Authors are encouraged to include DOI links wherever available.

Figures, Tables, and Visuals

  • Tables, charts, screenshots, and figures must be clearly labelled and referred to in the text
  • Original JPEG files for visuals must be uploaded separately
  • Authors are responsible for obtaining permission for copyrighted or third-party material
  • Visuals generated or modified using AI tools must be clearly acknowledged

Double-Blind Review Requirements: JTELT follows a double-blind review system. The blinded manuscript must not contain author names, their affiliations, their contact details, and any self-identifying acknowledgements. Author information should be provided separately in the Author Information and Declaration Form.

Ethical Responsibilities of Authors: Authors submitting to JTELT must ensure that:

  • The manuscript is original and not under consideration elsewhere
  • All sources are properly cited
  • Research involving human participants follows appropriate ethical procedures and informed consent practices
  • Data, images, and references are authentic and verifiable
  • Any conflicts of interest are disclosed

Ghost, guest, or gift authorship is strictly prohibited. The journal normally encourages concise authorship, and the number of authors is generally expected not to exceed three.

AI Use Policy: Authors must disclose any use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in preparing the manuscript. AI tools may be used only for limited support purposes such as language editing, proofreading, translation, transcription, literature search support, and visual design assistance. AI tools cannot be listed as authors.

Authors remain fully responsible for the originality of the work, accuracy of references, interpretation and analysis, and ethical integrity of all AI-assisted content. AI-generated or unverifiable references must not be included.

Plagiarism Policy: All submissions are screened for plagiarism. The similarity index must be below 10%, excluding references and quotations. Submissions found to contain plagiarised material will be rejected. Published articles may be retracted if plagiarism or ethical misconduct is identified after publication.

Review and Publication Process: All submissions undergo: (1) Editorial screening, (2) Double-blind peer review, and (3) Final editorial decision. The review process normally takes up to 90 days. Authors may be requested to revise and resubmit manuscripts based on reviewer comments. Revisions submitted after the stipulated period may be treated as new submissions. Published articles are assigned Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs).

Submission Preparation Checklist

Before proceeding with the submission, authors must confirm that their manuscript complies with the following requirements:

  • The submission is original, unpublished, and is not under consideration by another journal or publisher.
  • The manuscript falls within the scope of JTELT and substantively engages with technology-enhanced language and/or literature learning.
  • The manuscript has been prepared according to the JTELT Author Guidelines and formatting requirements.
  • The manuscript is written in English and has been carefully spell-checked and grammar-checked.
  • The submission follows APA (7th edition) referencing style.
  • All references cited in the text are included in the References section, and vice versa.
  • The manuscript has been anonymised for double-blind review by removing all author-identifying information, including names, affiliations, acknowledgements, institutional references, and contact details.
  • The manuscript file includes the Title, Abstract, Keywords, Main Body, References section, and Tables/Figures/Appendices (if applicable).
  • The similarity index of the manuscript does not exceed 10%, excluding references and quotations.
  • All required files have been uploaded: (1) Blinded Manuscript, (2) Plagiarism (Similarity) Report, (3) Author Compliance and Declaration Form, and (4) Visual Files (if applicable).
  • Any copyrighted material, images, figures, screenshots, or third-party content used in the manuscript has been used with appropriate permission and acknowledgement.
  • Any use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in preparing the manuscript has been transparently disclosed in the Author Compliance and Declaration Form.
  • AI tools have not been used to generate unverifiable references or replace the authors’ own intellectual analysis or interpretation.
  • All authors have made substantial scholarly contributions to the work and approve the submission.
  • Any conflicts of interest relevant to the submission have been disclosed.
  • Research involving human participants has followed appropriate ethical procedures and informed consent practices.
  • The authors agree to abide by the editorial, ethical, and publication policies of JTELT.

Submitted manuscripts are treated as confidential documents and are shared only within the editorial and peer-review process.

The names and email addresses entered on the journal website or submission system will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of the journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or shared with third parties.
