Effects of Concordance Feedback on Engineering Students’ English Vocabulary Learning

Abstract

The main objective of the present research study is to investigate the effects of concordance reference to learn implicit vocabulary. For this purpose, the present study proposes British National Corpus (BNC) language data to learn contextual vocabulary through cloze test reading. Despite some difficulties, the study found that participants of the study analysed the language data successfully and identified word’s correct meaning in multiple choice of wordsand usage in the concordances i.e. keyword in context (KWIC) format. The study also presents participants’ beliefs and practical difficulties towards the concordance activities.
