Publication Policy

The editorial board of Journal of English Language Teaching is committed to upholding scholarly publication ethics in every possible way in order to maintain international standards by enhancing quality in publication. We would expect all the parties associated with the journal (authors, reviewers, editors, and readers) to abide by the following norms.


For all submissions (articles, book reviews, etc.) appropriate attribution of authorship must be provided based on the following criteria:

  1. A person who makes a substantial contribution to the conception of a research work or the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data for the work
  2. A person who drafted a work or revised it critically for important intellectual content
  3. A person who made the final approval of the version to be published
  4. A person who is accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work.

It is advised that persons who do not meet these criteria for authorship should not be listed as authors.

Though there is no fixed and definitive rule about the number of authors for an article, the editors of JELT recommend that the number should not exceed three, keeping in mind the fact that including a large numbers of authors usually increases the time it takes to prepare, review, and finalize a research paper. The order of authorship should be a joint decision of the co-authors. It is generally assumed that the first-named author has made the greatest contribution to the research. The last place is usually given to a senior team member who has contributed to the work through expert advice and guidance.

Corresponding author

The corresponding author is the person who receives the reviewers’ comments and whose contact details are printed on the article so that readers can seek clarifications or further details about the work, or contact the research team. Any one of the authors can be the corresponding author, irrespective of their place in the order of authorship. Authors are expected to consult with their co-authors at an early stage and decide in advance who the corresponding author would be. It is better to choose an author whose contact details are not likely to change in the near future.

The corresponding author is expected to ensure the integrity of publication ethics and should guarantee (through a ‘Declaration’) that:

The corresponding author is expected to initiate the submission process and inform the other authors of the outcome of their submission.

The editorial board of JELT is against the unethical practice of 'ghost', 'guest', or 'gift' authorship (or anything that does not have any proper contribution to an article) and will take a serious view of such practices.


An individual who participated in the development of a manuscript but does not qualify as an author should be acknowledged for what they actually did. All those who are listed in this way should be made aware of their mention. Organizations that provide support in terms of funding and/or other resources should also be acknowledged. If the research paper submitted to the journal is a revised or updated version of a paper that was presented at a conference and not published, the authors should clearly mention the conference details in the acknowledgement.

Conflict of Interest

Conflict of interest arises when there is a difference between an individual’s private interests and his or her responsibilities or activities relating to scholarly publishing. In order to maintain transparency in publication, JELT encourages authors, editors, reviewers, and other persons involved in the publication process, to avoid any form of conflict of interest. Our publication policy and guidelines are regularly revised to address these issues.

Editors and reviewers of JELT are expected to avoid any form of potential conflict of interest while performing their duties in their respective roles in order to maintain the integrity of our publication ethics and raise the standard of the journal. Reviewers should disclose conflict of interest, if any, and decline the review of any manuscript they perceive to have a conflict of interest. Editors should also decline from considering any manuscript that may have a conflict of interest. The, such manuscripts have to be re-assigned to other reviewers. Internal conflicts of interest, if any, will be handled by the Editor and/or Editor-in-Chief, who will maintain confidentiality and take appropriate measures.

The professional independence of the members of the editorial board will be maintained and the board enjoys full autonomy in performing their scholarly duties.


The views and opinions expressed in the articles published in the journal are solely those of the authors. The editorial team, the reviewers and the publisher of the Journal do not necessarily endorse them and they are in no way responsible for the opinions expressed by the authors.

Plagiarism Policy

We check all submissions for potential unethical practices. If any article is found to be plagiarized before publication, we will reject the submission summarily. If any article is found to be plagiarized or reported by anybody to have been plagiarized after publication, we will retract the article from our archive, with a notice to the author. Open Access Policy

JELT strongly supports open access. Digital versions of full texts of all articles published by JELT are freely accessible to everyone immediately after publication. The journal allows readers to read, download, distribute, or search freely, or link to the full texts of the articles for any lawful, professional purpose.

Submission Policy

Any violation of the publication policy and publication ethics, or any other activity that threatens or tends to compromise the integrity of the publication process will be considered a potential misconduct. Suspected cases of misconduct will be investigated and the Editor, in consultation with members of the editorial board and the editor-in-chief, reserves all rights to take necessary steps against unethical practices.
